About Shep’s Dog Training Centre

Our Founding Story
As a devoted animal lover, I was raised on my family’s farm, which has been in our family since the First World War. From a young age, animals were my best friends, and my loyalty to them is well-known among those who know me.
My fascination with animal intelligence began when I trained chickens as a child. As I grew older, my love and respect for animals only deepened.
In the mid-1970s, I became a police officer, and although I didn’t work in the dog section due to my own needy German Shepherd, I learned how to train police dogs and later competed in service dog competitions. I even taught a green dog to pass his NASDU levels 2 and 3 on the same day with flying colours.
My passion for dogs extends beyond obedience training. I’ve developed expertise in dog aggression and have successfully helped several dogs in trouble with the courts, boasting a 100% win rate as an expert witness.
Whether you’re seeking obedience or advanced competition training, puppy training, or residential training, I’m here to help. Let me share my love and expertise with you and your furry friend.

Growing up on my family’s farm, which has been in our possession since the First World War, I developed a deep affection for animals. From a young age, I found solace in the company of these creatures, and my loyalty to them is well-known among those familiar with me.
My interest in animal intelligence began when I began training chickens as a child. As I matured, my admiration and regard for animals only intensified.
In the mid-1970s, I joined the police force. While I didn’t serve in the dog division due to my own German Shepherd’s neediness, I acquired knowledge in training police dogs and later participated in service dog competitions. I even taught a young dog to pass his NASDU levels 2 and 3 on the same day with exceptional results.
My enthusiasm for dogs goes beyond obedience training. I’ve developed a skill in dog aggression and have successfully aided many dogs in difficulty with the law, boasting a 100% success rate as an expert witness.
Whether you’re looking for obedience or advanced competition training, puppy training, or residential training, I’m here to lend a hand. Let me share my love and knowledge with you and your furry companion.

Mike Beazley
I am a retired Greater Manchester Police Officer who served 30 years with the force and was a Police Dog Handler for 17 years.
Working in some of the most troublesome areas of the force, my police dog was utilised almost daily. This gave me a great deal of experience in some very testing circumstances.
Having retired from the police, I became a trainer of not only pet dogs but also Personal Protection Dogs, which became personal protectors to families nationwide.
Not all police dog handling is about biting and attacking people; it is also about a very high level of training in obedience, searching for property and tracking, to name just a few disciplines.
Discovering the skills that I had, I was approached by a group of security guards from different companies who asked me to become their trainer and become part of NASDU (National Association of Security Dog Users). I would be able to train them, assess their suitability, and license them as security dog handlers in levels 2 and 3 General Purpose dog handling.
Suppose you desire to become a NASDU qualified dog handler, to train in Personal Protection, to have fun doing tracking, agility or indeed, just improve your ability to handle your own dog. In that case, these skills are available at South Forest Farm.
